Bluegrass Underwater Recovery’s equipment configuration is based on the DIR philosophy of diving that promotes diver safety and enjoyment through a reasoned approach to teamwork, equipment choices and diver training. GUE's equipment configuration is holistically conceived to be functional, with minor adaptations, in any environment. We have chosen to dive Halcyon gear with Scubapro regulators.

The first decision that we have to make after contracting a recovery is what type of thermal protection we will need. Our choices are:

We have to then consider our gas consumption, our depth, our time, and our task. This will guide us to how much gas we need to carry, i.e. a single or double tanks, and / or a stage bottle:

We also evaluate the depth that we will be working. This directly relates to the amount of light that we will have. Most often, we have to provide our own light. This is done through a HID light:
